THE RUTH MINE COMPLEXThe Ruth Mine is one of the last existing examples of Depression-Era Hard Rock Gold Mining in California . Extensive above ground and underground diggings make the Ruth one of the largest mines in the Searles Valley area. The Complex consists of 11 structures including a large Mill with processing tanks, a Warehouse, Bunkhouse, Schoolhouse, General Store/Tavern, and several workers' homes. The “Friends of the Ruth Mine” maintains the buildings. The Ruth Mine is currently being considered for inclusion in the Adopt-A-Cabin / Historic Sites Program. The Mine is located on the East slopes of the Argus Range. . The Ruth is currently closed to the public.
